I think Kerry Nguyen-Long's work and Arts of Viet Nam 1009-1945 is great. And needed. Lots of young curators and artists and scholars are interested in critiquing contemporary Vietnamese art but this researcher is doing the historical groundwork that is so necessary

The author has a long connection with Vietnam and has been writing on its arts for decades. Since 1999 she has been a contributing editor of the international bimonthly magazine Arts of Asia, published in Hong Kong, in which she writes on the arts of Vietnam. Her work has also been featured in books, arts magazines, museum catalogues, and journals.
A major achievement

'Arts of Viet Nam 1009-1945 by the pre-eminent researcher writing in English on this subject, Kerry Nguyen-Long, is the outcome of many decades of research. The book presents a considered analysis and interpretation of the development of the arts in their historical context, in a way in which no other publication to date has achieved

This is an impressive book ... books such as this one can refresh our fields. All will be well rewarded by their acquaintance with this attractive and informative book.
